Notably, she also earned the prestigious ranking of the No. 1 Agent for Greenville for 2016 (based on Greater Greenville MLS Sales Volume). Her hard work and passion for real estate as a Multi-Million Dollar Producer for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services C. Dan Joyner REALTORS since 2003 has helped position Melissa for this ranking. She also earned the distinction as a Luxury Collection Specialist for meeting the professional standards set by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services for sales professionals who successfully list, market, and transact sales of Fine Homes. Berkshire Hathaway’s definition of a Fine Home is a residence valued at $700,000 dollars and up. Additionally, she earned her Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) in 2024.
In 2022, she earned the network’s Legends Award for having 10 consecutive years of sales records in the Chairman’s Circle which is the top ½ percent of agents nationally. She also was recently humbled to receive the company’s Fritzi Barbour Award named in memory and honor of her former broker, mentor and friend. This Award is named by her peers and given to an agent who represents the utmost professionalism & integrity. She has also received the President’s Award for not only her commitment to her profession but her community service efforts in breast cancer awareness & research in honor of her late mother, Sammie Sweeney-Ferrigan who battled stage 4 breast cancer for 6 years before passing away in 2014. In fact, she developed and spearheaded her signature annual event in 2020 called “Bourbon for Boobs.” On Mother’s Day weekend of 2025, she received word that her TEAM SAMMIE Breast Cancer Foundation earned its 501c3 status. The proceeds from her efforts benefit the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health at Bon Secours’ St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. Last year, this event among others raised $260,000 dollars. Planning is already underway for this year’s 7th annual event to be held on October 22, 2026.
A native South Carolinian, she also knows the market, having lived with her husband of 30 years this May, Tony, and children, Ashley, age 27, Hannah, age 23, and Ty, age 19, in the Simpsonville area for the last 30 years. Ashley graduated from Lee University in TN and is now a successful lifestyle photographer & videographer based in GA traveling across the Southeast. Hannah graduated from the College of Charleston in 2025 and is now a REALTOR with BHHS C. Dan Joyner as well. And her son Ty, age 19, attends the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Melissa is also a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s School of Journalism in 1993. She uses her education and skill set to achieve the highest results for her clients. Her family attends Fellowship Greenville and works out at the JunkYard in Mauldin/Simpsonville.
