She also earned the distinction as a Luxury Collection Specialist for meeting the professional standards set by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services for sales professionals who successfully list, market, and transact sales of Fine Homes. Berkshire Hathaway’s definition of a Fine Home is a residence valued at $700,000 dollars and up. Additionally, she earned her Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) in 2024.
In 2022, she earned the network’s Legends Award for having 10 consecutive years of sales records in the Chairman’s Circle which is the top ½ percent of agents nationally. She also was humbled to receive the company’s President’s Award for not only her commitment to her profession but her community service efforts in breast cancer awareness & research in honor of her late mother, Sammie Sweeney-Ferrigan who battled stage 4 breast cancer for 6 years before passing away in 2014. In fact, she developed and spearheaded her signature annual event in 2020 called “Bourbon For Boobs.” The proceeds benefit the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health at Bon Secours’ St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. Last year, the event raised over $126,000 dollars. Planning is already underway for this year’s 6th annual event to be held on October 23, 2025.
A native South Carolinian, she also knows the market, having lived with her husband of 29 years this May, Tony, and children, Ashley, age 26, Hannah, age 22, and Ty, age 18, in the Simpsonville area for the last 29 years. Ashley graduated from Lee University in TN and is now a successful lifestyle and wedding photographer in TN traveling across the Southeast. Hannah graduates from the College of Charleston this May with a degree in marketing & communications and Ty is a Senior at Southside Christian School and has been accepted to the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Melissa is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s School of Journalism in 1993. She uses her education and skill set to achieve the highest results for her clients. Her family attends Fellowship Greenville and works out at the JunkYard in Mauldin/Simpsonville.
